BackgroundI have a Counseling / Psychology Master's degree from Antioch University in Seattle and hold a BA from Western Washington University. I also attended Whitman College and UW as an undergraduate. I have practiced counseling and psychotherapy in the Northwest since 1980 and have been in private practice in Seattle since 1984. I am a Licenced Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was an educator. My experience at the primary level includes teaching in and directing Montessori schools. At the college level, I have taught psychology courses and professional development seminars and have been involved with student advising. I have also given workshops at hospitals, community colleges, public schools and non-profits on topics of stress management, career development, depression, creativity, and relationships.Throughout my life, I have always loved the process of helping people articulate personal truths about their experience of happiness, or unhappiness (e.g. confusion, disappointment, frustration, overwhelm, or loneliness), and then working to incorporate practical insights and to cultivate health promoting habits of mind and behavior within often challenging circumstances. |
